A unique operation was performed at the Center of Robotic Surgery at the BSMU clinic. Ufa surgeons performed prosthetics of the knee joint using a robot. Students of the BSMU watched the progress of the work on the video. The center for Robotic Surgery in Ufa, equipped with the most modern technologies, is the only one in the Volga Federal District.

The operation was performed on a woman over sixty years old. She had previously suffered from knee pain. BSMU offered to perform a unique operation with the help of a robot, after which she will be able to walk without pain.

- The technology of performing operations with the help of a robot will continue to develop. In many countries of the world, such robots work around the clock. The surgeon may get tired or sick, the robot completely eliminates the human factor and errors. Robotic surgery in orthopedics will soon become the main one in our surgery, as well as it has become in urology, oncology, vascular surgery," commented the rector of BSMU, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, MD, Professor Valentin Pavlov.

The knee surgery lasted only an hour. Previously, surgeons cut out bone using titanium, but today everything is done with a laser.

- The surgeon works alone in the operating room, he does not need a team of assistants, everything is done by a robot. With a tolerance of 0.1 mm, an accurate saw can be made, while we do not create heterogeneous consequences or the likelihood of consequences after the intervention. Tissues are removed here, the wound remains clean. When we place the implant, it "stands up" precisely and with minimal risk of complications," said Bulat Minasov, Head of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics at BSMU, MD, Professor.

The progress of the robotic operation was monitored live by the residents. At the end of the master class, they were able to ask their questions.

- Previously, we have already worked with colleagues from Bashkiria in Moscow, and they are already trained surgeons. Now we are helping to install equipment here, in new conditions. The advantages of this robot are that it is possible to perform an operation via the Internet," said Andrey Gritsyuk, Professor at Sechenov University, Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Joint Pathology.

Today, the Center for Robotic Surgery at the BSMU Clinic is the only one in the Volga Federal District. Experts note that it is improving every year. The experience of working with the help of modern technologies has also been established.
