Results of the International Congress on Fundamental and Clinical Urology and Oncourology

From March 21 to 23, 2024, Ufa hosted the International Congress on Fundamental and Clinical Urology and Oncourology. The event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Sino-Russian Association of Medical Universities, the Russian Society of Urology, Arab Association of Urology, Urological Association of Asia, Société Internationale d'Urologie (SIU), Sechenov University, Bashkir State Medical University.

The purpose of the Congress is to strengthen business partnership between the Russian, European, Asian and Arab urological communities.

—Urological care in the Republic of Bashkortostan meets the world level and international standards. In recent years, we have radically changed the entire concept, strengthened the material and technical base thanks to republican and federal financial programs. Almost all of our urological centers are equipped with endoscopic equipment that allows the introduction of minimally invasive interventions into the practice of a doctor. It is gratifying that the engine of this development is the Bashkir State Medical University, headed by Rector, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valentin Nikolaevich Pavlov, — Minister of Health of the Republic of Bashkortostan Airat Rakhmatullin made a welcoming speech.

— The achievements of Russian medical science, our multinational culture of Russia and the Republic of Bashkortostan can now be broadcast through our graduates in more than 100 countries of the world where they work today. Bashkir State Medical University today is the only center outside Moscow and St. Petersburg where the most advanced scientific projects are carried out, which are supported by scientific foundations of many countries. Our scientists can decode the genome, the structure of any protein and molecule. We compete with many universities around the world for the global market of international education and world science in order for our graduates to compete adequately with the best graduates of other universities, — Rector of BSMU, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, MD, Professor Valentin Pavlov addressed the participants of the congress.

— I have never seen such laboratories and equipment that exist in Ufa. We do not have such technologies in Regensburg, and Moscow and St. Petersburg do not have such equipment. Bashkir State Medical University, clinic and laboratories are equipped with unique equipment. I am very glad that we have been cooperating with your university for many years. The main thing is that we do not engage in politics, we take care of our patients," said Wolf Ferdinand Wieland, Professor of the Department of Urology at the University of Regensburg (Germany).

At the opening of the International Congress on Fundamental and Clinical Urology and Oncourology, Professor of the Department of Urology at the University of Regensburg (Germany) Wolf Ferdinand Wieland, Head of the Department of Urology and Human Reproductive Health with a course in Pediatric Urology-Andrology at RostSMU, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kogan, Head of the Department of Innate Immunity and Tolerance at the Institute of Transfusion Medicine were encouraged by the gratitude of the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan and Immunology, Faculty of Medicine of Mannheim, University of Heidelberg (Germany) Julia Krzyszkowska, President-Elect of the Société Internationale d'Urologie, Professor at Medipol University (Turkey) Jean de la Rosette and Secretary General of Arab Association of Urology, Professor at Mansour University (UAE) Yasser Farahat.

— I first met Professor Pavlov five years ago. And today I would like to address the students here. You will meet many people in your life who will have interesting and unique ideas, but only some of you will be able to achieve what they dream of. Valentin Pavlov is a great example of such a person," added the Secretary General of Arab Association of Urology, Professor Yasser Farahat.

At the Congress, special attention was paid to experimental urological and oncourological research, where outstanding international experts presented their latest fundamental and practical results. In particular, leading experts discussed a new generation of model systems (organoids obtained from patients, xenografts, mouse models) and their application to decipher the mechanisms that cause urological and oncourological diseases and resistance to treatment, as well as their use in practical medicine.

For practical purposes, on the basis of the BSMU Clinic, open, endoscopic, laparoscopic and robotic surgeries were performed in the “live surgery” and “semi-live surgery” mode (video broadcasts of operations), the BSMU simulation surgery training center was involved. The participants of the Cohort observed robot-assisted operations performed on da Vinci Xi and da Vinci Si: radical prostatectomy (E.V. Shpot), radical prostatectomy with anterior and posterior pelvic floor reconstructions

(M.F. Urmantsev), kidney resection (M.S. Mosoyan, da Vinci Xi), radical prostatectomy (A.V. Ponomarev), kidney resection (S.V. Kotov, da Vinci Si) and nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy (I.N. Orlov).

Rector of BSMU, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Valentin Pavlov and Associate Professor of the Department of Urology of BSMU Marat Urmantsev demonstrated a unique method of treating urological patients suffering from urinary incontinence. This year, for the first time, Bashkir surgeons began to perform urological operations using the development of the famous surgeon Ernst Muldashev – alloplant.

By the decision of the Academic Council of BSMU, the title of "Honorary Doctor of Bashkir State Medical University" with the presentation of the mantle was awarded to Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Dmitry Kudlay (Moscow), Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Roman Kozlov (Smolensk), Jean de la Rosetta (Turkey), official da Vinci expert in Russia, Professor Mikhail Mosoyan (St. Petersburg).

Medals named after him. Imam-Gali Galimovich Kadyrov "For loyalty to BSMU" was awarded to Professor Wolf Ferdinand Wieland (Germany), Professor Mikhail Kogan (Rostov-on-Don), Professor Bulat Shalekenov (Kazakhstan), Professor Vladimir Medvedev (Krasnodar), Professor Yasser Farahat (UAE), Professor Safar Gamidov (Moscow), head of the clinic urology Denis Holtobin (Novosibirsk), Professor Sergey Kotov (Moscow).
