Delegations from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan strengthen scientific ties with BSMU

During the month of medical science of the Bashkir State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia, the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference "Infectious Diseases as an Interdisciplinary Problem: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" was held with the holding of the National School for Infectious Diseases dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Academician V.I. Pokrovsky.

The conference discussed innovative methods of treating infectious diseases, risks and complications of respiratory infections in children, problems of diagnosing enterovirus infection, pathological picture of internal organs with influenza, a clinical case of severe brucellosis with the development of myelitis, etc.

The conference was attended by scientists and doctors from the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

The scientific event was attended by representatives of the West Kazakhstan Medical University named after Mart Ospanov: Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Childhood Infections, Chief Freelance Infectious Disease Specialist of the Aktobe Region, Ph.D., Professor Meyrambek Kurmangazin, Associate Professor Aigerim Iskakova, assistants Akezhan Astrakhanov and Aigul Amanzhanova, residents of 2 years of study in the specialty "Infectious Diseases" Asia Nurmanova and Balnur Mukhanbetgaliev as part of the academic mobility program from November 14 to 17, 2024.

Scientists from the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I.K. Akhunbaeva: Associate Professors of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases Elena Radchenko, Madina Mambetova and Svetlana Chechetova.

- The history of our university is inextricably linked with the history of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Our university has been training personnel for Kazakhstan for several years, we work together on scientific projects, participate in dissertation councils, conduct student exchanges and joint conferences. We are friends with almost all leading Kazakh medical universities, - commented the rector of BSMU, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, MD, professor Valentin Pavlov.

- Our universities have long been cooperating in science, training of scientific personnel and doctors, we are implementing programs of academic mobility. We are also starting to work on new scientific projects and grants. For three years, our doctors, undergraduates and doctoral students at the BSMU have been improving practical skills. Our direction of cooperation is infectious pathology, therapy and surgery, - said the head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Childhood Infections of the West Kazakhstan Medical University named after Marat Ospanov, Professor Meirambek Kurmangazin.

The delegations met with the leadership of the Bashkir State Medical University, got acquainted with the educational and scientific potential of the university, outlined the further vector of scientific cooperation. Kazakh and Kyrgyz scientists visited the BSMU laboratories at the Interuniversity Student Campus and the Institute of Fundamental Medicine.

During the visit of delegations to the University, meetings and lectures were held on the program of academic mobility for students of the 5th year of medical and pediatric faculties.

Associate Professor Svetlana Chechetova gave a course of lectures on parvovirus infection in children, Associate Professor Madina Mambetova on metapneumovirus infection in children and hepatitis, Associate Professor Elena Radchenko on enterovirus infection in children. Professor Meyrambek Kurmangazin gave a course of lectures on influenza, SARS, COVID-19.

During the lectures, the speakers presented multimedia presentations, including photographs of their patients, which allowed students to visually familiarize themselves with clinical cases and features of the course of these infections. The guests got acquainted with the clinical and educational activities of the department, discussed opportunities for further inter-university cooperation and shared ideas for the development of joint projects.

Foreign colleagues met with foreign students from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The meeting was held in a warm atmosphere, students asked many questions, discussed the features of admission to residency in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the organization of the educational process in medical universities, the possibility of participating in joint scientific projects and conferences.
