For the first time, an Egyptian became the champion of the All-Russian mas-wrestling tournament in memory of Roman Dmitriev.
The All-Russian mas-wrestling tournament in memory of Olympic champion Roman Dmitriev has ended in Moscow. 78 athletes from 18 regional teams of Russia took part in the competition on March 1.
For the first time in the competition, the title of winner was won by a mas-wrestler from Egypt, a foreign medical student of the Bashkir State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia.
The main sensation occurred in the category up to 90 kg, where the winner was the Egyptian Ibrahim Mohamed, a student of BSMU, the bronze medalist of the World Cup in Bishkek.
In the final match, he defeated one of the leaders of Russian mas-wrestling Roman Iskanderov from the Vladimir region.
"It was tough in the category immediately after the first scrum. There were eleven of us, but I reached the gold medal. I always took second or third places, but Roman Dmitriev's tournament turned out to be the best for me. I have been doing mas-wrestling for only two years. I want to become a world champion," said Ibrahim Mohamad.
