University students became prize-winners of the BRICS + International Youth Mas-Wrestling Tournament

March 15, 2025 at RUDN University hosted the BRICS + International Youth Mas-Wrestling Tournament.

The event brought together young people from the BRICS + countries, including students, young professionals in the field of physical culture, sports, public diplomacy and international relations from Angola, Egypt, Zambia, India, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Congo, Mongolia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, Syria, Sierra Leone, Tajikistan, Togo, Turkmenistan. The purpose of the tournament is to create a unique platform for uniting youth from different countries through classes in the national Russian sport. We strive to popularize mas-wrestling and develop sports diplomacy to strengthen ties between peoples.

Foreign students of the Belarusian State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia brought silver and gold medals to the University's piggy bank. So, in the weight category "Men 70 kg" a student from Egypt Elashri Tarek Ahmed Ibrahim took third place, in the category "Men 80 kg" a student from Nigeria Alade Samuel Adeola also took third place, and the Egyptian won the silver medal Mohamed Ibrahim Magd Diab Salem in the weight category "Men 90 kg".

Heads of national federations of mas-wrestling, judges and trainers got an opportunity not only to demonstrate the skills, but also to increase awareness of innovations in carrying out tournaments of such level. The program of events included a round table on the topic "Prospects for student mas-wrestling". Among the speakers are rectors of federal universities, where qualified personnel are being trained in mas-wrestling. Colleagues from abroad spoke about their experience in the student environment. Traditionally, national sports tournaments attract attention for their uniqueness and cultural significance. Reports on the ongoing competitions and their results contribute to the formation of public interest, as well as inspire the younger generation to engage in unique and distinctive sports.

The teacher of the Department of Physical Culture Ishmukhametov Ilgam Zinnurovich acted as an arbiter in these competitions.

We are confident that the BRICS + International Youth Mas-Wrestling Tournament will be an important step in creating a diplomatic format for the interaction of youth, experts, national cultural associations and the sports community. We are convinced that this event will contribute to the development of national sports and the promotion of the interests of the Russian Federation in the field of youth policy and sports.
