INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE II INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE "YOUTH IN THE FIGHT AGAINST HIV / AIDS IN THE SOUTH URAL-2017" IN CHELYABINSK

 On December 1, 2017, the II International Scientific and Practical Conference "Youth in the fight against HIV / AIDS in the South Ural-2017", was held at the South Ural State Medical University. The conference was dedicated to the international day of struggle against HIV / AIDS (World AIDS Day). It was attended by the representatives of the Russian Federation, India, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

The opening ceremony of the conference started with the speech of the university’s rector, doctor Volchegorsky Ilya Anatolievich and was continued by the speech of Head Ministry of Healthcare of Chelyabinsk region, doctor Sergey Leonidovich Kremlev.

In the plenary section, a lecture was delivered by the deputy head doctor of the regional center for prevention and fight against HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, doctor Selyutina Lyubov Ivanovna, on “History and formation of the organization for HIV/AIDS control in Chelyabinsk Region”. Sections dedicated to "HIV Prevention and the Fight against AIDS in Modern Conditions" a.nd "Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology and Treatment of HIV Infection and Associated Diseases" and poster presentation followed the plenary section of the conference. Within the conference there was a competition of young scientists among speakers under the age of 35 years. Many young doctors, scientists and students shared their research experiences and clinical knowledge on the topic with a great interest and enthusiasm.

Two students from the Bashkir State Medical University Andrew Zodinmawia (2^nd year) and Karan Verma (5^th year) also gave their presentations at the conference. Their presentations on “anxiety and depressive symptoms in HIV positive patients” and “Clinical characteristics of the HIV positive patients in the critical care unit” were highly appreciated by the judges and were among the best-rated presentation at the conference.
