The first meeting of the SSC in English was held at the Department of Neurology

The first meeting of the student scientific club (SSC) in English (resp. - assoc. prof. T.R. Mirsaev) was held at the Department of Neurology on September 25. It was conducted by the head of the department - M.A. Kutlubaev. The topic of the meeting «Eyes as a window to the brain». It was about the possibility of using pupillary reactions to diagnose diseases of the nervous system.

The meeting was started by M.A. Kutlubaev, he spoke about the physiological foundations of pupil diameter regulation, and also shared his experience in the use of pupillometry (automated assessment of pupil diameter) in scientific research conducted at the Department of Bashkir State Medical University. In recent years, as a part of the PRIORITET-2030 program, on the basis of the laboratory of neuropathophysiology of higher brain functions and neurorehabilitation, students of BSMU conducted a study using an eye tracker to diagnose brain diseases, based on their results, a patent was issued and an article was published in a leading domestic journal.

Next, a 4th year student Nikhil Gudivada made a presentation on the use of the pupillometry method in various fields of medicine.

At the end of the meeting, the participants discussed the SSC work plan for the 2025/26 academic year.
