The delegation of the Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases, headed by Director, Professor M.M. Bikbov took part in the V International Ophthalmological Congress IOC - 2025, which was held on October 3-4, 2025 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
More than 1000 people from 35 countries of the world took part in the congress. The most important issues of treatment and diagnosis of diseases of the anterior and posterior segments of the eye were discussed with leading Russian and world experts.
The scientific program of the congress included a wide range of issues related to the diagnosis and treatment of corneas, cataracts, glaucoma, retinal diseases, vision correction, etc.
Prof. M. M. Bikbov co-chaired the plenary session, where he presented a report on the topic «The evolutionary path of the development of keratoplasty».
For the first time in as a part of this congress, a session of the Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases was held, where the following reports were presented:
· Shevchuk N.E., Zainutdinova G.Kh. Current directions of diagnosis and treatment of infectious-inflammatory eye pathology
· Rakhmatova I.I., Murova L.Kh. A new look at contact vision correction
· Kudoyarova K.I. Retinal autotransplantation in giant through macular ruptures
· Gilemzyanova L.I. Uncover retinal secrets using optical coherence tomography
The moderator of the institute session was the head of the department of corneal and lens surgery, MD E.L. Usubov. The audience listened with interest to the presented reports, asked questions, there was a lively discussion.
As a part of the congress, a video report section was held, in which six scientific video works from various ophthalmological centers were presented.
L.I. Gilemzyanova, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases, presented a video report on the results of the population study Ural Very Old Study. Unlike most participants who presented clinical observations, the staff of our Institute demonstrated unique data obtained when examining people over 85 years old - one of the least studied age groups in ophthalmology.
According to the results of the competition, the Institute's film was recognized as one of the best works and was awarded a special prize, which became recognition of the scientific significance of the study and the high level of material presented.
An exhibition of new ophthalmic equipment and products was organized for the participants.
The congress was held in a warm, friendly atmosphere and allowed to gain new knowledge, exchange experience, communicate with colleagues.
