Vil Mamilovich Timerbulatov is an outstanding surgeon, scientist, teacher, health care organizer, rector of the BGMI (1994-2012), whose journey began in 1952 in the village of Isheevo, Ishimbay district, Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
Since childhood, Vil Timerbulatov showed outstanding abilities in chemistry, was the winner of the Olympiads and could enter the chemistry department of BSU without exams. However, Vil Mamilovich chose a different path - medicine, and certainly surgery.
Could a 1969 freshman who first opened the doors of the Bashkir State Medical Institute imagine how rapidly his professional career would develop? In 1975, Vil Mamilovich completed his studies with honors in the specialty "General Medicine." From 1976 to 1979, immediately after the internship in surgery, his professional career as a surgeon begins in the Central District Hospital of the Blagoveshchensk District.
In 1979, Vil Timerbulatov entered the clinical residency in surgery at the Bashkir State Medical Institute. It was during these years that his first scientific developments began, and deep interest appeared in the new specialty - coloproctology. From 1988 to the present, Vil Mamilovich has been the head of the Department of Surgery with an endoscopy course at Bashkir State Medical University.
Vil Mamilovich Timerbulatov is the founder of a scientific school in the field of coloproctology in Bashkortostan, the chief coloproctologist of the Volga Federal District, a member of the expert Council of the Ministry of Health and the problem commission of the Russian Academy of Sciences "Coloproctology".
The daily work of Vil Mamilovich made a significant contribution to the diagnosis and treatment of acute paraproctitis, peritoneal adhesion disease, diverticular disease of the colon, and concomitant diseases of the colon. Under his leadership, a program for the development of endoscopic surgery in the Republic of Bashkortostan was created.
For the first time, Vil Timerbulatov experimentally developed and introduced into the clinic a method of radiofrequency vascular destruction, which can significantly improve functional results in the surgical treatment of peptic ulcer of the 12 intestine.
In 2024, Vil Mamilovich was awarded the title "People's Doctor of the Republic of Bashkortostan."
In addition, he is the author of 980 scientific papers, 48 monographs and reference books, on the account of a medical scientist 123 inventions. Under the strict guidance of Vill Mamilovich, 29 doctors and 76 candidates of sciences were trained.
The head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, on a recent direct line, spoke about his mentors, including Vil Mamilovich: "The older you are, the fewer mentors you have. I've had people in my life that I've listened to. Vil Timerbulatov - everything related to health care, he did this from the first days".
The life and professional activity of Vil Mamilovich Timerbulatov is a vivid example of selfless service to medicine, science and society. First of all, he appreciates his profession for the opportunity to help people, the incredible joy of saving health and life. The professor shares many other stories from his practice with students of the Bashkir State Medical University, infecting them with love for the profession, the desire to save lives and develop the medical science of the republic:
