Mentor's contribution: talented graduate of the University, young scientist Gulnara Tuguzbaeva transfers her knowledge to the future generation of doctors

Gulnara Maratovna Tuguzbaeva - Ph.D., Acting Head and Associate Professor of the Department of Pathological Physiology, Bashkir State Medical University, Ministry of Health of Russia.

The motto of Gulnara Maratovna is "Scientia potentia est" (Knowledge is power). And it is this power, born in scientific laboratories, international centers and classrooms of the University, that today shapes the future of Russian medicine.

From school, Gulnara Tuguzbaeva knew that her path lay in science. She showed an outstanding interest in the natural sciences, more than once became the winner of olympiads in chemistry and biology, so admission to a medical university was not an accident. Today, a young specialist is a mentor, scientist and inspirer of a new generation of doctors.

In 2013, she graduated with honors from her native Bashkir State Medical University. During her studies, Gulnara Tuguzbaeva conducted active research and volunteer activities: she was an assistant to the medical staff at the XXVII Summer Universiade in Kazan (2013), assistant chief physician of the Iceberg Ice Palace at the XXII Olympic Games in Sochi (2014), assistant chief physician of the mountain village hospital of the XI Paralympic Games in Sochi (2014), manager of organizational support at the I European Games in Baku (2015), duty assistant of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Bashkortostan for the Health Weeks of the SCO and BRICS member countries in Ufa (2015).

A real breakthrough in the career of Gulnara Tuguzbaeva happened abroad. In 2015, becoming one of the first BSMU graduates selected to study under the PhD program, she went to Harbin Medical University (China). There, in the laboratories of the Celestial Empire, Gulnara Maratovna plunged into the study of pyroptosis - a special form of programmed cell death, which can become the key to the treatment of malignant tumors. Her main scientific breakthrough is the development of a new polypeptide based on endostatin that can suppress the growth of prostate cancer. This discovery received a patent in Russia and recognition by the international scientific community. For unique results, Gulnara Maratovna became a scholarship holder of the Government of China for outstanding foreign students. Gulnara is also the winner of the Competition of scientific projects of young scientists of the Republic of Bashkortostan and a scholarship holder of the President and Government of the Russian Federation.

Returning to her native University in 2019 with a PhD diploma, Gulnara Maratovna continued her scientific research, and most importantly, she became a mentor for the future generation of highly qualified doctors. Today, her research at the Institute of Fundamental Medicine focuses on the molecular genetic and immunological mechanisms of prostate cancer progression, especially on the role of tumor-associated macrophages in the development of castration resistance. This direction can change approaches to the treatment of one of the most popular diseases. Gulnara Tuguzbaeva conveys to students not only knowledge, but also the belief that even the most complex medical riddles can be solved if you stubbornly move forward.
