All-Russia student Olympics on surgery unites young surgeons from all over the world
According to the plan of the most important educational events in organizations under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation for 2017, on 5-6 December the all-Russia student Olympics on surgery with international participation was held on the basis of Bashkir State Medical University. Twenty-one teams attended the competition, including students of the Medical Faculty of Mannheim University, Heidelberg University (Germany), Sichuan University, Harbin Medical University (China), I. K. Akhunbaeva Kyrgyz State Medical Academy, as well as international team of the University consisting of international students from India, Tajikistan and Armenia. The aim of the Olympics: to find and to give an opportunity for professional growth to the most talented, capable, creative students - said with a welcoming speech Valentin N. Pavlov, rector of BSMU, corresponding member of RAS, at the opening ceremony. Today at the Olympics we present for the first time in Russia the developed model of accreditation of surgical profile specialists. After the brilliant performance of Gareev Rustam Nosirovich, doctor at the Ambulance Hospital, who sang the anthem of the surgeon of his own composition, the draw for teams was held, and participants started the tasks of the Olympics. Within two days, the participants performed a competitive task: suturing wounds of the heart, imposing a coronary artery shunt, the formation of "s" shaped tank from the small intestine, the competition cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the participants showed their skills on a virtual simulator LapSim for conducting nephrectomy, anatomical contest. The top contest was the endosurgicalvideo-assisted surgery. Four teams who received the highest number of points in the previous stages were admitted to this task. The participants had an operation for suturing "perforations" and cholecystitis ectomy on biological models. Nowadays many legal barriers exist for the practical work of students during the training period, in many regions there is no access to the patients and Universities have not got their clinical bases. This certainly somehow dampens the interest of young people in the choice of profession, especially surgical, - expressed his opinion academician Valeriy Alekseevich Kubyshkin, the Chairman of the jury, head of the Surgery Department at the Fundamental Medicine Faculty of Moscow State University. - And exactly such Olympics are able to spark the interest among students for this specialty.
The leading surgeons of Russia and professors of departments of medical universities of the country evaluated the work of the teams: Komissarov Igor Alekseevich, Korzhuk Mikhail Sergeevich, Kchibekov Ellar Aburagimovich, Markelova Nadezhda Mikhailovna, Nartailakov Mazhit Akhmetovich, Narezkin Dmitry Vasilevich, Plechev Vladimir Vyacheslavovich, Sadygaliev Kylychbek Sulkaidarovich, Sufiyarov Ildar Fanusovich, Timerbulatov Mahmoud Vilevich, Hidiyatov Ildar Ishmurzovich, Shevchenko Vadim Pavlovich, Shibo Sun, Liu Yang, professor Zhen You, etc. - Such competitions are held in China, but such approximation to reality in tasks I have never met before - shared his impressions a student of Harbin Medical University Zenan Zhang. - I hope that due to these activities cooperation between countries will develop and our students’ friendship will strengthen. The Olympics resulted as follows: the teams of Samara State Medical University, Stavropol State Medical University and Saratov State Medical University shared the third place; the second place went to Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University and Voronezh State Medical University. The team of Bashkir State Medical University won the landslide victory. Garipov Renat, a student of the 5th course of General Medicine Faculty of BSMU, got Grand Prix and Olympic Gold Scalpel.
- I am very glad to have the opportunity to communicate with like-minded people, it was interesting to learn what ideas students from other universities in Russia and from abroad have - shared their experiences at a concert of Amateur team Krasulya Ivan, the captain of Professor V. F. Voino-Yasnetskiy Krasnoyarsk State Medical University. At the end of the two days of competition, the participants of the Olympics demonstrated their creative talents: students of Harbin Medical University performed the song "Katyusha" in the Chinese language, the national student song performed by participants from Germany, the artistic teams of BSMU showed their most striking performances. Closing of the Olympics was held in the atmosphere of scientific and creative flying and international friendship.
