At the II Congress of the Eurasian Association of Urologists, the experience of conducting robot-assisted cystectomies at the BSMU Clinic is presented

The II Congress of the Eurasian Association of Urology was held in Moscow at the site of Sechenov University.

The Eurasian Association of Urology (EAU) is an organization that brings together national urological communities to coordinate scientific and practical activities in the field of urology, as well as to improve the qualifications of specialists and provide highly qualified medical care. The main goals of EAU include the organization of scientific research, the development of new methods of diagnosis and treatment, the development of international cooperation and the implementation of educational events such as forums and schools for young professionals.

The program includes: 3 parallel rooms, 22 scientific sessions, UroLabZone, battles with voting and for the first time in Russia - a demonstration of telemanipulation on the Toumai robot live.

As part of the second day of the II Congress of the Eurasian Association of Urologists "UROVERSA 2026," the rostrum of the world's leading platform was occupied by the Russian surgical school. Rector of the Bashkir State Medical University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Valentin Pavlov presented a report on the topic "Experience of 300 robot-assisted radical cystectomies. Experience of the BSMU clinic."

Today, radical cystectomy remains the "gold standard" treatment for muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Robotic assistance (RARC) has already proven its advantages: reduced blood loss, less pain syndrome and reduced hospitalization compared to open operations.

Recall that the first Center for Robotic Surgery in the Volga Federal District was opened at the BSMU Clinic in 2017. In 2018, the only Da Vinci Si robotic system began operating at the center. Now in the BSMU Clinic there are three robotic installations - Da Vinci Si, Da Vinci Xi and a robotic traumatologist - Cuvis Joint.

Robotic surgery has a number of advantages over laparoscopic and "open" surgery: it is low invasiveness, precision, accuracy, 3D imaging, which creates the effect of "presence" in the operating field, the absence of physiological tremor, that is, hand tremors, during manipulations, which cannot be ruled out when performing other types of interventions.

The speech of the rector of the Bashkir State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Valentin Pavlov has actually become a roadmap for Russian centers that are just beginning to introduce robotic cystectomy.
