In the scientific library of BSMU, training was completed as part of the project "Young Scientist School" for foreign students.
A series of practical classes in English was conducted by the head of the department of sociocultural communications of the scientific library M.R. Gainullina. The event was aimed at increasing the information literacy of foreign students and developing their research skills.
The course program consisted of four intensive practical exercises. During the training, the participants mastered the key competencies necessary for working with academic literature and preparing scientific publications.
In particular, the students learned to:
- effectively search for information in the world open medical databases;
- register and set up personal profiles of authors in the Scientific Electronic Library (eLIBRARY.RU);
- apply the PICO strategy to form accurate queries in the international PubMed database;
- conduct a critical assessment of scientific journals: from the selection of specialized publications to the recognition of unscrupulous publications.
The acquired knowledge will allow foreign students to work with scientific information with high quality.
