BSMU entered the TOP-5 of universities of the Ministry of Health of Russia for the development of medical volunteering

Bashkir State Medical University took 5th place in the annual monitoring of the implementation of the Standard for Supporting Medical Volunteering among educational organizations subordinate to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. This result confirms the status of BSMU as one of the leading volunteer centers in the country's higher medical education system.

Social work and volunteering are firmly entrenched in the daily practice and educational disciplines of the Bashkir State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia:

The volunteer movement at BSMU has been developing for 14 years. During this time, the University Volunteer Center has trained more than 8,000 volunteers in 10 areas: medical, social, sports, event, international, environmental, cultural, scientific, cyber volunteering and others.

Every year, students and employees of the university take part in more than 150 events of the regional, all-Russian and international level. Among the largest events are the Olympic Games in Sochi and Beijing, the FIFA World Cup, the World Youth Festival and the Games of the Future.

The university implements a number of social projects:

- Academy of Social Design "Do the Right Thing!" - a unique educational project for schoolchildren in grades 8-11. As part of the program, children study the legal foundations of volunteering, undergo psychological training and learn to develop social projects from idea to applying for a grant. Classes are taught by teachers of BSMU, heads of the Dobro.Center of Ufa, "Victory Volunteers" and specialized specialists.

- Federal Service Training Program. Students apply professional skills to solve real social problems. So, future dentists regularly carry out preventive measures, for example, the "Happy Smile" campaign for pupils of the Republican Resource Center "Family."

- All-Russian forum "People of Goodwill." Annual platform for the exchange of experience. In 2025, the forum brought together volunteers from Moscow, Kazan, Tomsk, Tambov and other cities. The key goal of the forum is to discuss the role of volunteering in the professional development of future doctors and the formation of "social architects" of the new era.

Volunteering at BSMU goes beyond one-off assistance. This is a systematic process of forming "social architects." Participation in projects allows students to develop supra-professional competencies - empathy, leadership qualities, sociability, the ability to work in a team and manage projects. It is these skills that make graduates of the Bashkir State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia highly competitive and demanded specialists in the labor market.
