Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Russia met with foreign students of BSMU

As a part of his working visit to the Republic of Bashkortostan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Yemen to the Russian Federation Ahmed Salem Al-Waheishi met with foreign students from Yemen studying at leading universities in Ufa - BSMU of the Ministry of Health of Russia, USPTU and UUST.

Note that Yemen became one of the first Arab states to establish diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union. Today, a constructive dialogue is maintained between the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Republic of Yemen, especially in the field of science, education and culture.

During the meeting, the diplomat talked with young people, inquired about the conditions of their residence and adaptation in Bashkortostan, and also discussed the prospects for further strengthening educational ties between the two countries. Students shared their impressions of their studies in Ufa. Note that today 9 students from Yemen comprehend medical science at the Bashkir State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia.

"We are glad to visit this outstanding research center and university in Ufa. Russia has achieved significant success in science, including in those areas that we have become familiar with today, and especially in medicine. Arab countries, and Yemen in particular, are striving to adopt best practices and actively develop in these areas. Many of our graduates of Russian universities returned to their homeland with advanced knowledge and technologies, which brought great benefits to the Yemeni people.

Russian-Yemeni relations have a rich history, they are strong and continuously developing. Soon we will celebrate the centenary of the signing of the first treaties between our countries on cooperation, establishing ties and trade. These historical ties continue to grow, reflecting Russia's continued support for peace and stability in the Arab world. That is why our delegations regularly exchange visits to discuss topical issues and determine the future of our relations," Ahmed Salem Al-Waheishi said.

The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Bashkortostan for Science and Higher Education Svetlana Mustafina, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development of BSMU Milyausha Kabirova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of BSMU Veronika Izosimova, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Congress Activities of the Republic of Bashkortostan, as well as employees of the Dean's Office for Work with Foreign Students GMU.

Ahmed Salem Al-Waheishi also visited the student dormitory and got acquainted with the modern scientific and educational infrastructure of BSMU at the Institute of Fundamental Medicine. The ambassador assessed the scale of scientific research conducted by scientists from university laboratories. Ahmed Salem Al-Waheishi appreciated the high level of technological equipment, innovative approaches to scientific work and the fundamental base of the Institute.

Recall that quite recently the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Yemen to Russia Ahmed Salem Al-Waheishi. The head of the region noted that in two years it will be 100 years since the establishment of official Russian-Yemeni relations.
