Employees of the Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases took part in the 30th Ophthalmological Congress of the Chinese Medical Association

Employees of the Ufa Eye Research Institute took part in the 30th Ophthalmological Congress of the Chinese Medical Association, which was held from September 9 to 12, 2026 at the Tianjin National Exhibition and Conference Center.

The congress was organized by the Chinese Medical Association and its ophthalmology department with the participation of the Tianjin Medical Society and its ophthalmology department. According to Chinese media reports, more than ten thousand ophthalmologists from China and other countries took part in the congress, over a thousand leading Chinese and foreign specialists made reports. It is one of the largest and most influential ophthalmic scientific events in China.

The congress is held annually, and every year it is hosted by a new region: in 2024 it was held in Wuhan, in 2025 in Hangzhou, in 2026 in Tianjin. The scientific program was built around the advanced areas of modern ophthalmology: the interaction of medicine and engineering sciences, artificial intelligence and genome editing, as well as topical issues of all ophthalmological subspecialties.

Thematically, the program covered all major areas of the specialty: refractive surgery, cataracts, glaucoma, retinal diseases, cornea and ocular surface, neuro-ophthalmology, strabismus and pediatric ophthalmology, oculoplasty and lacrimal tract pathology, optometry, as well as myopia prevention and control. A separate block was devoted to ophthalmic nursing. This year's program for the first time included a block of interdisciplinary strategic reports with the participation of academics and leading scientists from related fields, devoted to ways to integrate these technologies into ophthalmology.

Along with plenary sessions, the program included thematic symposia, master classes by leading specialists, analysis of clinical cases and a poster session.

As a part of the congress, there was an exhibition of ophthalmic equipment and medicines.

Head of the Department of Ophthalmological and Medical Epidemiology of the Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Gyulli Mukharamovna Kazakbaeva moderated the international scientific session of the congress. Reports were presented on the use of artificial intelligence in retinal diseases, modern approaches to the treatment of eye allergies, including corneal crosslinking and biological therapy, the epidemiology of eye injuries in China, the program of field ophthalmological care for rural populations, as well as the results of experimental and clinical studies in the field of gene therapy for hereditary retinal dystrophies and refractive surgery. L. I. Gilemzyanova presented a report on micropulse laser therapy for chronic central serous chorioretinopathy. The head of the consultative and polyclinic department R.R. Klyavlin made a presentation "Peripheral retinal tears in myopia of varying degrees." Nikita Smirnov, head of the design and production center for medical and ophthalmological equipment of the Ufa Eye Research Institute, presented the report "Multimodal platform for assessing the quality of ophthalmosurgery with predictive analytics and AI agents to support medical decision-making." The participation of institute employees in the congress of the Chinese Medical Association continues to work on the development of international scientific cooperation of the Ufa Eye Research Institute and expands contacts with leading ophthalmological centers.
