Dubai (UAE) hosts the Congress of the International Society for Hypertension (ISH) and the Emirati Heart Society (ECS). This is one of the most significant events in the world of cardiology, uniting leading experts and researchers from around the world. Bashkir State Medical University at this international site was presented by a foreign 5th year student of the Faculty of General Medicine Mohd Arsalaan. His participation in the congress is part of the Decade of Science and Technology and emphasizes the contribution of BSMU youth science to the global professional community.
The ISH-ECS Congress is an authoritative platform for discussing the latest research in the field of cardiovascular diseases. The forum program covers key areas: preventive cardiology, treatment of heart failure and arterial hypertension, as well as translational medicine.
As part of the scientific session, Mohd Arsalaan presented a poster on the topic "Triple sequential therapy for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF): meta-analysis." The study was prepared under the scientific supervision of the head of the department of propaedeutics of internal diseases, Professor Naufal Zagidullin.
A high level of scientific work was noted by the international expert community. Following the selection, the scientific committee of the congress awarded Mohd Arsalaan a travel grant. This award is given to the authors of the best abstracts and covers the costs of travel, accommodation and participation in the conference.
In his work, the BSMU student conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of 7 largest randomized clinical trials, which involved more than 25,000 patients.
"We studied the cumulative effect of sequential use of three main classes of drugs (ARNI, MRA and SGLT2 inhibitors) in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. Each of these drugs individually has already proven its effectiveness. However, when used together, the overall risk of cardiovascular death or hospitalization is reduced by 61%," said Mohd Arsalaan.
The key conclusion of the study: triple therapy has a colossal multiplicative effect. The results of the meta-analysis presented by the student of BSMU serve as direct evidence for cardiologists: the three main classes of drugs must be prescribed to patients as early as possible and necessarily in full.
