S.B. Medvedeva graduated with honors from the Bashkir State Medical Institute (medical faculty) in 1981, in 1982 internship at the Bashkir Republican Psychiatric Hospital, and worked there as a psychiatrist for three years. In 1985-90 she studied in clinical residency, then postgraduate studies at the Research Institute of Psychiatry of the RSFSR Ministry of Health.

From 1992 to 1995 she worked at the Department of Psychiatry of the N.A. Semashko Moscow Medical Dental Institute as an assistant, continuing her scientific and practical work as a psychiatrist-psychotherapist at the AIDS Prevention Center at the 2nd Infectious Diseases Hospital in Moscow. She defended her PhD thesis on the topic: "AIDSphobia (clinic, typology, organization of preventive measures" (1994).

Since 1995 she has been working at the Department of Psychiatry and Narcology with Postgraduate courses as an assistant, then as an associate professor.

Scientific interests are connected with the questions of mental activity in HIV-infection, psychosomatic disorders, pathogenesis of mental diseases.

Author of more than 50 published scientific works, methodical recommendations, educational and methodical visual aids. She is an excellent health worker of the Republic of Bashkortostan, a consultant of a number of medical institutions in Ufa. For many years she was responsible for internship in psychiatry-narcology at the department.
