The main research direction of the department is international medical communication. Teachers of the Department of Russian Language, Linguistics and International Communication take part in conferences at various levels, prepare and publish scientific articles. On April 17, 2021, the Olympics of the Lower Volga cluster in the Russian language among foreign students took place. The Olympiad not only allowed the students to check the level of knowledge of Russian as a foreign language, but also showed them the diversity of the Russian language, and also made it possible to approach problem solving in a non-standard way.

On April 15, 2021, 2nd year students of the Faculty of General Medicine Tobar Mendoza Daniela and Elfahkhar Farakhh Sheriff Ahmed presented BSMU at the International Scientific Conference of Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists "Lomonosov-2021" in the subsection "Modern issues of medicine, biology, ecology and psychology." Their report on the topic "The image of a doctor (the experience of an associative experiment)" was awarded a Diploma of the II degree.

April 10, 2021 students of the medical, dental and pharmacological faculties from the first to the fifth years, studying with the help of an intermediary language or the Russian language, took part in a large-scale event called "TruD" as part of the Total Dictation 2021, held at the Bashkir State University ... "TruD" allowed students to test their knowledge of Russian as a foreign language and try their hand at an analogue of the Total Dictation. All the participants showed good results, but the 5th year student George Nasrallah, who performed the work to the maximum number of points, was especially distinguished and was awarded the Winner's Diploma.

From February 23, 2021 to February 27, 2021, a week of the International Festival of Languages ​​was held, dedicated to the Day of the Mother Language. The meeting itself and the competition of the participants took place on the last Saturday of winter, the video essay competition continued throughout the first spring week. The festival, organized by the dean's office of the international faculty and the Russian language course, provided an opportunity for participants to express themselves in five nominations: the best research in the field of linguistics, the best research in cultural linguistics, the best master class, the best creative representation of the language and the best video essay - and brought together students from our university, from the Bashkir State University, the Ufa State Oil Technical University, the Military Institute of Railway Military Communications (St. Petersburg) and the Russian State Pedagogical University named after Herzen (St. Petersburg). Needless to say, there were dozens of countries represented at the Festival.

The jury of the Festival consisted of both teachers and senior students and residents from different countries, and the criteria for evaluating the work were the quality of the presentation, and the participant's appearance, and his oratorical skills, language proficiency and depth of research. On April 10 and 11, 2019, the International Festival of Languages ​​took place, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The festival was aimed at developing intercultural communication, fostering tolerance, enhancing interest in learning the Russian language, intensifying the motivation and creative activity of students. The 2019 -2020 academic year began with the award of the Prize of the Council of the Urban District, the city of Ufa of the Republic of Bashkortostan named after S.T. Aksakov is a person who lives in modern times and maintains his own instagram account. Through his posts in Russian and English, Anas told about interesting facts from the life of the writer. Meganatkhan created a website where he talked about S.T. Aksakov, his books and places in Ufa associated with him.  The methodological work of the department is distinguished by a high level. The teachers of the department regularly participate in conferences devoted to the methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language, both regional and national and international, and publish articles on innovative methods and technologies of teaching the Russian language in journals and conference proceedings. The teachers of the department teach students from India, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Sudan, Nigeria, China, Vietnam and many other countries, which leads to the active development of methods of teaching the Russian language, focused on the graphic, phonetic, grammatical, lexical characteristics of the native for foreign students languages ​​(Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, etc.). All teaching materials for foreign students are provided in both Russian and English.

The Department of Russian Language, Linguistics and International Communication annually hosts International Olympiads and Language Festivals with the participation of more than 1000 people from different cities and countries of the world. It is not the first year that the Olympiad in Russian as a foreign language has been awarded a place in the list of events of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

The teachers of the department annually organize and conduct such events as "Autumn poetry evening", "Language of poetry - love", "Poems of Victory", film screenings, trips to museums and theaters of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

In addition, over the past few years, our students have won the photography competition held by Bashkir State University for several years.

In 2019, the department prepared two nominees for the Aksakov Prize. Both students successfully defended their work and received an award. For the first time in the years of its existence, foreigners received it!

The staff of the department assist in the organization and conduct of the All-Russian educational action "Total dictation". And it is not the first year that students of our university have won the TruD dictation, intended for students of Russian as a foreign language.

The department takes an active part in the sports life of the university. Thus, the senior teacher Anna Sergeevna Sidorova annually takes part in the BSMU Winter Sports Festival, which takes place in the Olympic Park Group of Companies. In addition, Anna Sergeevna won the second rize for two years in a row.

The teachers of the department organize for students not only trips to museums and theaters in order to develop a versatile personality, but also attend various holidays, which contribute to the development of intercultural communication skills. The department actively participates in all scientific conferences, symposia and congresses held in Russia and abroad.
