The department has students of 1,3-5 courses of the Faculty of Dentistry and 1-4 courses of students in the intermediary language (English). Classes are conducted in the disciplines "Introduction to the specialty. Teamwork and Leadership", "Therapeutic Dentistry", "Simulation Training". Disciplines of choice "Mistakes and complications in the diagnosis and treatment of caries", "Complex treatment of periodontitis", "Modern endodontics" have been developed and introduced into the educational process. Practical training in the section "Assistant to a dentist-therapist" takes place after the VIII semester and goes for 2 weeks. The bases of industrial practice are dental clinics of cities and regions of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Residents in the specialty "Therapeutic Dentistry" are trained at the department.

The department conducts serious educational and methodical work and intensified scientific research on the problems of therapeutic dentistry. The staff of the department prepared and published new teaching aids and recommendations for students in certain sections of therapeutic dentistry, including manuals with the stamp of the EMO of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. Methodological developments of a lecture course on therapeutic dentistry have been created. Working programs for all taught specialties have been revised and re-developed, technical teaching aids have been updated, the display classroom has been expanded, and educational videos in all sections of therapeutic dentistry are widely used in the educational process. Serious attention is paid to the organization of independent work of students. The Youth Scientific Society is actively working. A student "circle" has been created, where students are engaged in modern equipment, equipment for the study of the dentoalveolar system. During the academic year, students take part in International and All-Russian scientific conferences, where they make presentations and win prizes. In October 2019, once again, our students represented BSMU at the International Olympiad "Dentistry of the South" and won prizes. In April 2021, the Intra-University Olympiad was held for students of the Faculty of Dentistry in the section "Restoration of teeth".
