HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENDOCRINOLOGY
The creation of the Department of Endocrinology was inextricably linked with the development of the endocrinological service of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Interest in endocrinology as a clinical discipline increased significantly, which was associated, on the one hand, with the discovery in the second half of the 20th century of the structure of hormones, physiology and their role in the regulation of vital processes, the emergence of modern laboratory and instrumental research methods, and on the other, with the growth of endocrine pathology. The requirements for knowledge of endocrinology issues by graduates of medical universities have increased significantly. This served as a justification for the need to isolate the study of endocrinology issues within a separate discipline.
So in September 1989, a course in endocrinology was opened at the Department of General Surgery of the Belarusian State Medical Institute, which was headed by the chief endocrinologist of Bashkiria, associate professor, candidate of medical sciences. Ibragim Gaizulovich Rakhmatullin, whose scientific interests were devoted to the surgery of endocrine diseases. I.G. Rakhmatullin from 1976 to 1985 headed the work of the endocrinology center of the RCH named after. Kuvatova. On his initiative and with his direct participation, the department of endocrine surgery was created at the Russian Clinical Hospital named after. G.G. Kuvatova. For more than 20 years I.G. Rakhmatullin headed the endocrinological service of the republic and put a lot of effort and energy into training qualified personnel. In 1991, Rakhmatullin I.G. successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: “Features of the clinic and complex treatment of diseases.”
In 1993, Rakhmatullin I.G. headed the department of general surgery, the head of the endocrinology course was elected associate professor, candidate of medical sciences, endocrinologist of the highest category, Tatyana Vyacheslavovna Morugova. In 1996, the course of endocrinology was reorganized into the Department of Endocrinology. Assistants working at the department were Ph.D. Belyushin A.V. and Aflyatonov F.S., Associate Professor, Ph.D. Morugova T.V. From 1998 to the present, the Department of Endocrinology is headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Morugova T.V. The topic of her doctoral dissertation is devoted to the study of the metabolic properties of antihypertensive drugs in the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
In 1999, the Republic of Belarus launched targeted programs “Diabetes mellitus”, “Prevention and diagnosis of iodine deficiency diseases”, the creation and implementation of which was headed by the chief endocrinologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, head of the Department of Endocrinology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor T.V. Morugova. With her direct participation, issues of creating the material and technical base of the endocrinological service of the Republic of Belarus were resolved, a register of patients with diabetes mellitus and patients with neuroendocrine diseases was created; Schools for people with diabetes and obesity have been organized. In 1999, the work of the Association of Endocrinologists of the Republic of Belarus was resumed.
Times of change in state policy could not but affect the training of personnel in higher professional education - education must meet international standards. The department has received licenses and is accredited for postgraduate, internship, and residency training. Young doctors are enthusiastically mastering one of the complex clinical disciplines. The implementation of the principle of continuity of generations required the training of young scientific and pedagogical personnel. All employees of the department are interns and residents of the department who devoted their lives not only to healing, but also to teaching.
An analysis of the state of the endocrinological service of the Republic of Belarus revealed a steady increase in diseases of the endocrine system against the background of a shortage of personnel of endocrinologists. These urgent problems of practical healthcare were solved in a comprehensive manner: through student training, postgraduate education, scientific substantiation of priority scientific and practical directions for optimizing the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of endocrine patients. Scientific research of the department is aimed at solving practical issues of clinical endocrinology. Many results of dissertation research are of a priority nature: for example, in 2004, according to the results of the dissertation of Associate Professor Ph.D. Stepanova E.M., dedicated to clarifying the health status of pregnant women living in the region of iodine deficiency (ID), important conclusions were made that group prophylaxis with iodine preparations at a dose of 200 mcg per day is insufficient for the normal course of pregnancy and childbirth and does not completely eliminate dysfunction thyroid gland, which develops during the gestation period under conditions of iodine deficiency. But only in 2007, WHO experts increased the preventive daily dose of iodine for pregnant women to 250 mcg.
Together with the Ufa Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Associate Professor Ph.D. Avzaletdinova D.Sh. For the first time, studies have been conducted to study the clinical and genetic characteristics of diabetes mellitus among ethnic groups of the population of the Republic of Belarus, which will allow medical and genetic counseling of patients at high risk of developing diabetes mellitus and providing recommendations for its prevention, as well as expanding the global population database of candidate genes for diabetes mellitus .
One of the multifaceted scientific directions of the department is the study of the epidemiology of endocrine diseases, the pathogenesis of their complications and the search for ways to prevent and treat them. Employees of the department regularly speak at conferences and seminars, including Russian and international. The results of scientific research are covered in highly rated Russian and foreign journals. Employees of the department published more than 300 printed works, 10 monographs, 20 teaching aids. Since 2000, members of the department have been participating in international multicenter research. The department was actively involved in the implementation of the system of continuous medical education, participating in advanced training of endocrinologists within the framework of the Institute of Postgraduate Education. Currently, the department employs a friendly, young, viable team capable of creative search and implementation of the tasks of Higher Professional Education, preserving the ethical laws of the profession and the best traditions of our Teachers.

Employees of the Department of Endocrinology conduct daily practical classes and lectures with students on deontology issues.

The aesthetic education of students is facilitated by the design of the department: beautiful, well-designed study rooms, visual aids and stands, as well as the appearance of teachers.

Periodically, teachers visit student dormitories, where they resolve student issues.

Since 2015, a student scientific club (SSC) has been actively operating at the department. The scientific works of students, presented at the annual final scientific and practical conferences of students and young scientists of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, were repeatedly awarded diplomas of the I, II and III degrees.

The scientific director of the student scientific club is Avzaletdinova Diana Shamilevna.

The head of the student scientific club since the founding was a student of the Faculty of General Medicine, Deputy Chairman of BGMU Youth Science Society Klimets Sofya, since 2019 - a student of Pediatric faculty Erokhina Arina, since 2022 - a student of the Faculty of General Medicine Yusupova Alsu.
